What moves automatically
Your account and subscription can be used after signing in, but meeting content is local and does not automatically sync between Macs. Transfer the vault yourself.
The previous Notion guide copied Shadow's entire Application Support folder. The current product has a user-selected vault and a migration-aware setup flow, so moving the vault is safer and easier to inspect than blindly overwriting all application state.
Prepare the old Mac
- Let Shadow finish any active meeting processing or vault update.
- Quit Shadow.
- Locate the current folder shown in Settings → Meeting → Shadow vault.
- Copy the entire vault to a trusted drive or sync service.
- Verify that
SHADOW.md,Meetings/,People/, and available media are present in the copy.
Keep the original vault until the new Mac has been verified.
Set up the new Mac
- Install Shadow from shadow.do/download.
- Sign in and grant all four macOS permissions.
- Choose your transcription model and wait for required resources.
- On the vault step, select the transferred folder.
- Review the folder classification and import decision. Do not merge unrelated folders without reading the summary.
- Keep Shadow open while it prepares and imports the vault.
Verify the transfer
Open several recent and older meetings. Check transcript text, People links, Skill results, screenshots, and audio playback where audio was retained.
If Shadow preserves files under Unsynced Files/ or Archived Vaults/, review them before deleting any copy. Do not erase the old Mac or backup until the new vault is complete and readable.
