Choose how Listening starts
Open Settings → Meeting → Autopilot mode and choose:
- Enabled: I automatically start Listening when I detect a supported meeting and stop after you leave.
- Ask Me: I detect the meeting and ask before Listening starts.
- Disabled: start and stop Listening yourself.
For manual control, select Start Listening in the app or use your Quick start and stop shortcut. The current default is Control + Shift + S.
Check the floating controls
When Listening starts, the floating control shows the current capture state. Expand it to check:
- the microphone in use;
- the detected meeting screen;
- whether this is an in-person meeting.
If the wrong screen is selected, choose another available capture target. If I lose the meeting screen, screenshots pause until it becomes visible again. You can enable a private notification for this in Settings → Meeting → Smart screenshot.
Online and in-person meetings
For an online or hybrid call, keep System Audio available so I can hear remote participants. For a fully in-person conversation, enable In-person meeting and place the Mac where the microphone can hear everyone clearly.
Headphones usually reduce echo. If remote audio plays through speakers, the optional Acoustic Echo Cancellation setting may help, but it can briefly affect audio levels when Listening begins.
Finish or discard
Use the completion control or the same shortcut to stop and keep the meeting. I then finish processing, save the meeting bundle, and run automated Meeting Skills.
Closing or cancelling a meeting can discard captured audio and transcript data. Read the confirmation carefully before choosing a destructive action.
If your Mac is busy, I may keep recording audio while pausing live transcription. I process the remaining transcript automatically when resources are available.
